Recent Staff Moves, As Reported By Legistorm:
Kate Gould is the new senior policy adviser to Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), following a stint as a foreign policy fellow at the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center. She is a 2007 graduate
of Western Washington University with a BA in international development, political science and international relations. Gould was formerly a registered lobbyist for the Friends Committee on National Legislation.
Speaking of new faces, Jonathan Arias is now the senior defense policy adviser on the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. The committee is chaired by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). Arias has worked for the Florida senator since 2011. He lists as his hobby running triathlons.
Angela Hervig moves up to digital press secretary for Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-SC) after serving a year as a press assistant. Her BA in english language and literature and history was awarded in 2014 from Limestone College.
Over at the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Barry Walker has been promoted to Chief Clerk. Walker’s MS in management was awarded in 2014 by Catholic University of America. He previously worked for the Senate Armed Services Committee and a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee.
Republicans on the House Budget Committee have a new staff director in Becky Relic. Relic is beginning her third year with the committee GOPers. Her BA in communications is from Depauw University. It appears from her Facebook page that Relic is a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox!
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) has hired Trudy Perkins as communications director. Perkins is moving over to the Senate side after 17 dedicated years working for Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Her BA in business administration was awarded in 1993 from the State University of New York at Oswego.
New Senator, new job! Recently appointed Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) has retained Kerry Rom as communications director. Rom previously worked in the same capacity for Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas). Her BA in government was awarded in 2013 by Franklin & Marshal University.
Finally, Victoria Bautista is Rep. Kendra Horn’s new legislative assistant. Bautista first joined the Oklahoma Democrat’s staff in June 2018 during her campaign that resulted in one of the biggest upsets of the 2018 election. Bautista was awarded a law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2015. She listed membership in the Federalist Society among her activities.
