Kneecaps Are Fragile! Where I’ve Been For The Past Week

Did you miss me? Probably not, but that’s okay. Just thought I would let you know why I’ve not been posting for the past week.  While shoveling snow February 20, I suddenly fell and landed directly on my left kneecap.

The kneecap was broken into four discreet pieces and required surgery to repair. The surgery was this past Monday, March 4, and went well. But I’ve been dealing with the usual pain and disruption of normal routines that come with a serious injury, surgery and recovery.

Busted kneecaps are not an easy recovery, apparently. I don’t know how long I will have to wear the leg brace you see in the accompanying photo, but I hope it’s not too long because, of course, now that I can’t, it’s driving me crazy not being able to bend my leg!

But starting Monday, I will be back posting. Hope you are having a great weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks forward an hour tonight!

  1. I was shovellinhg my roof, second floor, at least twice a year into my mid sixties. I fell of the lower roof several ntimes with no injuries. Get well, but dude!!

  2. sorry to hear about your fall. I was a bit luckier. fell on the ice and ripped the quadraceps tendon right of the knee cap. Reattaching the tendon will heal better. That being said, I am in the same darn brace. Not bending the knee is not any fun. Get well soon.

  3. Bless you man – stay strong and get well ASAP. I can sympathize with you:
I broke my back last summer & it wasn’t very fun. First week or so wasn’t too bad – eating Advil like candy kept the pain controlled. – but then I started falling. That’s when I learned I actually broke a vertebra in 2 pieces. Had to get around the house in my office chair. Didn’t start going outside of the house until December or so – and I broke it in June!
God bless & get well soon!

  4. May the great physician speed you to a complete recovery! And with this setback, may you grow ever more dependent on Him.

  5. Before I had the pleasure of working with your sister Cindy at FairTax, a door mounted pull-up bar collapsed and I too broke my kneecap. You’re probably getting a lot of advice already but… After my staples came out I was so worried about infection that I left ointment on the cut line tissue far too often. The couple places I left air out more had much less scaring. Get better and stay in the fight!
